Upgrade/Update FlockFiler Lite from an Installer

1. In your old version, be sure to answer "Save" when shutting down the old database for the last time.

   The backup files that are saved are essential to preserving your old information. If you don't answer "Save", all your old information will be lost when you upgrade.

2. Download and install the new (demo) version of FlockFiler Lite using one of the Installers. This will install the newer version over top of your old version while preserving your backup files.

   If you used one of the archived formats (Zip archive, OS X Disk Image) to install FlockFiler Lite or are using the Mac OS 8.1 through 9 version, you should use the same method to download the newer version. Copy the contents of the old "Exports" folder to the "Exports" folder in the new installation. Do the same thing for the old "Images" folder. (Images folder will be empty unless you used it for your own images.) Then use the new folder to run FlockFiler Lite.

3. Start up the new version of FlockFiler Lite in Demo mode. When the countdown ends, push the "Form" button and then push the "Admin. Area" button.

4. On the Admin. Area screen, push the "Erase and Use Backup Copy" button.

5. Choose the "Erase" button to erase the information in the demo and load in your backup information from your old version.

6. If you didn't have any Log Entries in any of your old records, a warning dialog will come up. Choose the "Erase" button to proceed.

   If you did have Log Entries in your old records, this indicates a problem and alerts you that they were not saved properly to a backup file from your old version.

7. Click "OK". Your upgrade is finished. You can begin using the new version of FlockFiler  and all your old information has been put in there for you.

   There is no need to re-enter your Registration Code. Your old Registration Code was loaded back in automatically as part of the process.

   Sometimes changes are made in the newer version to rename some of the menu choices on some of the data entry fields. When this occurs, your information will be automatically converted while it is being imported to use the new, renamed menu selections.
